As a result of its intrinsically modular design, Compax3 can be readily adapted to suit all applications. With the option of analogue or step/direction input, Compax3 offers a simple and inexpensive route into servo drive technology. With the addition of positioning functions, C3 drives can be used as either a simple PLC peripheral or as an IEC61131-3 PLCopen compatible machine controller in it’s own right.
A number of industrial bus systems can also be used to implement the positioning functions, and at a basic level there is BCD weighted parallel I/O. Buses supported to date include Profibus DP and CANopen (CiADS402). Parker’s own proprietary HEDA bus enables digital synchronisation and contouring of up to 8 axes, and parameter setting on many more.
Compax3 drives are available in either100-230Vac single phase input or 80-480Vac three phase input. At 230v there are two current ratings 2.5A and 6.3A continuous and the high power drives range from 3.8A to 30.0A in 4 models. Compax3 drives can run servo motors with resolver or SinCos feedback, and also feature support for brushless linear motors. Internal filters are suitable for cable runs up to 10m.
